Every year as a "turdition" on my birthday (December 18th) we go out to lunch and go to our favorite Christmas tree farm and have the guy cut down the tree we choose. This year we decided to wait till Christopher comes home to go. He was looking forward to this for a very long time. So in the morning of my birthday, we went to breakfast at Christophers school, went to lunch at my favorite restaurant in Berkeley Springs, with our friend Chuck and came home to wait for Christopher to get off his bus so we can all go to get the tree.
Well, in the meantime, while we were home, my oldest grandson, Anthanei, and my honey were outside around our home which happens to be in the mountains of WV. They saw this poor sick looking, but alive, tree in our own back yard. They told me to come look at it and wanted to make it our Christmas tree for this year. It took a lot of begging and talking me into it. They said this is the best tree ever!!! Like a Charlie Brown tree.
Well, I told them to wait till Christopher comes home to decide. If he wants to go get a tree or wants to use this tree for our Christmas tree this year. I'm not feeling well these days (which is another story) and I saw the anticipation and excitement in their eyes that I couldn't say no!
Well, I think you guessed what they all decided. I was outnumbered and they begged me to let us keep this one.
They all had a ball chopping it down and bringing it in the house. It was so tall they had to cut quite a bit of the branches. Some branches were longer than others so they used string to bend the branches and tie them "up" rather than cut them off. AND, with the branches they cut off, they used duct tape to tape them onto the tree to fill in the bare spaces. What a site! It's a funny thing, not evenly shaped but they absolutely love it so it will stay. I also figured we won't really be home for Christmas so what the heck.
I'll take pictures and post them on here as soon as we decorate this tree. If nothing else, It'll be a tree and Christmas to remember!!
