MY LITTLE BOY

My little boy, Christopher, came home from school about two weeks ago sniffling and coughing. I kept him home for a day. He started feeling better and went back to school. Then last Saturday night I came down with a cold and I felt so miserible. My cold lasted all of this week and thank God I'm now feeling much better.

Well, this Tuesday Christopher came home from school and said he was tired and went to lay down. He said he almost fell asleep on the bus coming home. I knew then he was coming down with something. He felt hot to me so I took his temp while he was asleep. I was right, his temp was 101.9*. Now, I can handle when someone is sick but when it comes to a temperature, that's cause for concern. His temp was still 101* when he went to sleep for the night. Lynn said he was still warm during the night. I suggested to Lynn to let him stay home so I can take care of him.

All day yesterday his temp was not under 102* at all. And he laid around all day. You can tell when your child is not himself. I was really concerned because God knows what can happen if a temp stays with someone for too long. Specially a child. I told her to call the doctor and see if she can see him. She made an appointment for this morning at 9. I watched him and kept him comfortable and as the night went on he slept most of it. He didn't want to eat and his eyes were glassy. He went to bed last night and this morning Lynn said his fever broke and through the night, he sweat soooo bad she had to change his jammies. My goodness, I was so releaved!

He and Lynn got to meet the doctor and her staff this morning. This is the wife of our family doctor. They are both doctors, she, Pam, and He, Paul, share an office. She is a petiatrician and he is our regular MD. He took care of mom during her last few months. She said he's doing well, and glad his fever broke. No infection in his ears but a lot of congestion in his nose and head. He hasn't really gotten the hang of blowing his nose yet. She also told him he can't go back to school til tomorrow. He didn't really like the idea but he dealt with it. He likes school and thought he felt well enough to go today.

So we're home taking it easy and both of us are well on our way to healing. Even though he was sick yesterday, Christopher and I had a wonderful day. We laughed a lot, hugged alot, and unfortunately coughed a lot too. Sometimes "one on one" is a good thing. Gives you time to bond. That brings to memory of while spending the 3 weeks in Delaware waiting for the plane to Italy, I bonded with my 5th grandkid, Tyler, for the first time. Now I call him Tyler Turtle. He loves anything to do with turtles. I'm so amazed at the fact how so intelligent my grandkids are. Lil Sam, Tyler, my goodness, Christopher and I knew from the time he was born that Zachary will be intellegent just by his actions and reactions. They just blow me away!

One of the nice things we did yesterday while he was "mending" is I taught him how to play war with playing cards. I took the picture cards out so it was easy for him to know which # beat which #. He really likes the game... hmmm, could it be because he won most of the games! But I thank God he's much, much better and will be back to his old self in no time. I have to say, I can see him growing almost before my eyes. He's really a good kid and he's learning a lot.

I do hope your week is going by well!
